Diagrams

Diagram shows one pentagon with surrounding hexagons

Directions

  1. Wrap mari and mark a C10.
  2. Add marking lines for a complete 92 multipole. I used the multiple of three method twice to jump to a 32 and then 92 marking.
  3. Work one row of green outside of each pentagon and hexagon.
  4. Stitch two rows on each diamond over the green lines. For the diamonds touching the pentagons work one row of yelow then one row of orange. For all of the other diamonds the colors are reversed. See diagram above.

Notes

This is a pretty simple design but takes a long time to stitch because there are 270 of the little diamonds. Reversing the colors on the pentagons gives a nice interest to the ball and makes the little diamonds look more like clustered flowers.

I have had these colors sitting together in my drawer for a long time waiting for the right design to use them on. They really appeal to me and I love how they turned out on this ball. It ws funny working it because I started out with parts of skeins left over from other projects. I almost ran out of the yellow. Rather than go buy a whole new skein for the one yard of thread needed to finish the design, I went digging through my orts bag and luckily found just enough to finish. Yea! The base of this one was made from wrapping over #060703.
